She is also associated with signs from the stars and prophetic dreams. According to legend, Asteria cast herself from the sky into the waters of the Aegean, reaching the earth like a falling star. She eventually transformed into an island; thus, her light was not lost, but merely changed form. Once a star in the sky, she became an enduring mark on the earth.
